The Chasing Butterfly Collection
The butterfly is a symbol of many different powerful representations, and some cultures go as far as associating the butterfly with our souls. It is often seen as a reflection of endurance and freedom with its evolution in its different facets of life. It also represents the ability to look at life in a carefree, lighthearted way. It is its patience and fortitude to take flight and brave the unpredictability and wild side of nature that makes a butterfly such an incredible creature. Size does not deter it from its purpose and destination. It goes where it needs to go without losing its way.
The Chasing Butterflies series depicts much of the butterfly's symbolism in that it seeks freedom as it voyages to different parts of the world. At times the painting portrays the young girl with a red umbrella, signifying vulnerbility. These moments were she seems to be in need of shelter or comfort of any kind epitomises the strength and courage endured to keep moving despite the fear.
Chasing Butterflies is a series that follows the journey of an unnamed girl as she ventures to find freedom and her purpose in life, unbeknownst to her that perhaps the chase itself is life. It is the chase of excitement, keenness and thrill of being alive, or simply put, the sensation of butterflies in your stomach.
